There are a number of very helpful software tools out there to make me more productive at home and when I’m at work. I have learned that some can be downloaded at no charge, but others do come at a cost. Finding good antivirus software for your computers is one of thefirst things to emphasize.

The thing is, there are a number of adequate free programs you can download to obtain solid virus protection, but they are intended only for home use. The experts say that the free software will defend against the worst threats, but it is necessary to also add software to cover Trojan horses and adware. The free antivirus software will likely not protect as well as the paid software packages against all the internet marauders.

As we all move in the direction of less and less paper at the office, it means we need to be able to work with many different file types, from a wide variety of software applications. It will be more and more common that
we will convert these other documents, photographs, faxes and spreadsheets in to pdf documents.

There are a few major companies with products to deal with this requirement, Adobe being the most familiar name. If you are going to write, edit and perform other tasks, you are likely to need the Acrobat software by Adobe, although there are other choices available. Many people get by with the free Adobe Reader download when they don’t have a need to perform more involved tasks.

You will find substantial time savings by being able to work with pdf files, regardless of which software you acquire. This is not likely to change in the foreseeable future.
