Stay fit dont end up needing a defibrillator

July 12th, 2009

Having not really been in touch with the folks and siblings for over a decade I found it a bit worrying after I talked to a cousin of mine that I found on the web and he informed me that my old mans brother had a triple bypass operation and his sister had a pace maker fitted.

The fact that both of them had heart attacks immediately put me on code red for any potential symptoms that could indicate a possible heart attack. My first instinct wasn’t to instantly go out and purchase a Zoll M defibrillator on the off chance my heart went into fibrillation but I did get a bit paranoid.

I had just placed my business on the shelf for a while and had been comfort eating a bit, which had put the weight on, 14 stone at 6 foot for me isn’t a healthy weight. Call it stress but I began to be concerned about a ache that I was getting in my chest.

Following a blood test at the doctors it told me that my blood fats were to high and the Doctor told me I was on the borders of needing a prescription to reduce my cholesterol level down due to my bloodlines history of heart attacks (though she said there wasn’t any proof that a parents brothers and sisters effected their children).

Snap out of it!!!! I instantly removed from my diet butter, cheese (love cheese!) and didn’t eat chocolate or anything that had a high fat content. Increased foods that helped with cholesterol (stuff from the supermarket nothing stating magical properties just normal food) and began Mountain biking to the then new job (10 miles there and back cross country, 14 miles by road).

I purchased a set of scales that originally recorded my fat levels being 25 or 26 which was much to high I have now reduced it 20-21 which is what it should be. I am now 12 and a half stone and back to my original athletic self. There has been no need to return to the doctors and no longer feel the silly need to rent a Zoll M defibrillator just in case, because I know my cholesterol levels are back where they should be even allowing myself chocolate, cheese and butter in sensible amounts.

If you feel that you weigh to much or have a very sedentary life and feel without energy think about what you consume and begin exercising it doesn’t take long (about a year for me) to have a real effect to your existence.
